I began my service on City Council in November of 2017 when I was appointed by the Mayor to complete the term of Steve Gamatoria.
As a very active member of the community, I enjoy volunteering for many organizations including the Community Projects of Havre de Grace Thanksgiving Dinner Committee, the Independence Day Commission, the Lock House, the Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse, Upper Chesapeake Pride, the Heirloom Victory Garden and the Parent Teacher Association. As an active contributor to the Warrior Proud effort, I helped lead the charge in advocating for our new Middle and High School. After serving for over seven years on the State of Maryland Health Care Commission, in 2023, I was appointed by the County Executive to serve on the Harford County Planning Advisory Board.
My daughter Alexandra and I decided to move to Havre de Grace in 2013 to live closer to APG and the Chesapeake Bay. In 2020, I married James Weiss. James is a Lieutenant in the Baltimore County Sheriff’s office and his daughter Hannah lives in Columbia, MD.
An active kayaker, I love living near Tydings Park and enjoy paddling on the Bay with the other members of the Pirates of the North kayaking club. Along with my daughter, I have traveled to all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Everyone said it is next to impossible to get a utility pole moved. Nevertheless, I persisted. I spoke with everyone I could get to listen and finally found the right person. Now this pole by the Waffle House has not only been replaced but it was moved back so another box truck would not hit it.
But my greatest accomplishment has been the raising of a strong, independent young woman, my daughter, Alexi.
